you're interested in playing a challenging round of golf with scenic
appeal, look no further. The Sportsman Golf Resort, formerly known as
Perdido Bay Country Club, has undergone a complete renovation. The
former site of the PGA Tours' Pensacola Open from 1978-1987 is even more
spectacular than it once was when the PGA Tour made its home here for 10
years. The multi-million dollar renovation included the use of Salam
Paspalum grass for tees, fairways, and rough. Paspalum is now the choice
for golf courses on or along the coast. In the July 6th issue of
Golfweek's Superintendent News, Larry Gilhuly, Pacific Northwest area
director of the USGA Green Section, when asked "Seashore Paspalum
the grass of the future?" His reply was "No, it is the grass
of today!" To compliment the Paspalum, the latest
Bermuda
strain "Tif-Eagle" was used for the greens. The Sportsman now
boasts the best, tournament quality greens on the
Gulf
Coast
. You can now practice day or night at the Sportsman. Grass tees or mats
are available day or night at the Sportsman's lighted practice facility.
Two practice putting greens and two greens dedicated to chipping and
bunker practice will help fine-tune your game.
Superior
playing surfaces, superior putting surfaces, and a practice facility
second to none are just a few reasons why you should come visit the
Gulf
Coast
's best golf course, the Sportsman Golf Resort
